Match 13 of the season turned out to be unlucky for Boston as we travel away to the Wings not a ground that we have had much luck at in the past would todays outing be different?Well we started in promising fashion, with BUFC trading punches (not literally!) with the Wings boys Phoenix bagged a brace inside 20 minutes. But the strength of the home side meant that they soon pulled things back level, before going into a 3-2 lead. Fortunately Bimbo snatched a late equaliser in the last of the added minutes before the half time whistle and Boston felt fairly content drawing 3-3 at the interval.Hoping to push on in the second half however saw us begin to run out of steam. LoTWs assumed the lead again early in the second half and although we had our chances, tired legs meant our usually confident strikers scuffed their shots. A good effort by the team but we ran out eventual 5-3 losers. At least we gave them something to think about and hopefully the day is approaching when we can take some points out of the league leaders.
Game 14: Toon 3-2 BUFC
Following a recent run of home games, it was inevitable that wed face a string of away matches and sure enough were away at the Toon today. Its always a tight affair between the two sides with little love lost, so the first half is a close-run thing with some hard challenges resulting in the refs yellow card seeing some use. Then on 37 minutes the Toons Mr T lives up to his hard man image and dives two-footed into Matze in the centre circle, receiving a straight red for his troubles! The resulting free kick eventually finds its way to Bimbo to head in from Phoenixs cross in the 44th minute.Ten-man Toon equalise early in the second half. Then the games most controversial decision comes on the hour, when the Clamper in charge books Aliki on the edge of the box, for a seemingly innocuous interception. Seems he thought he saw her handle the ball, but she assures us all later that she never touched it! The resultant free kick is converted by BUFC old boy JW. The home side score again and Bimbo can only get a late consolation for Boston, as we end up losing the game 3-2 and drop down to 8th place.
Game 15: Nottm Reds 1-5 BUFC
A solitary point from the past four games sees BUFC in 8th position before todays away game to Notts Reds. Determined to make up for this poor form Boston are charged up for the match and start well, racing into a speedy 3-0 lead inside the first 30 minutes. BUFC midfielder, Gav gets his opening goal of the season in-between one from Bimbo and Phoenix. In the 4th added minute Phoenix grabs his second and Boston go into the dressing room four goals to he good. The game is almost over when Bimbo scores the 5th on 55 minutes and theres little the Reds can do. Their star striker, Rudieradford is currently ranked number 1 but can only grab a late consolation in the dying minutes. Phoenix picks up a deserved MoM with two goals and two assists and Boston leave with three points!
Game 16: BUFC 7-2 Geronimo
New boys Germo visit Boston for the first time in todays home game and despite being a newly promoted side, make a decent fist of the first half scoring two away goals to only trail 3-2 at halftime.Hoping for better in the second half, their hopes were dashed when Boston stepped on the gas and their two strikers made them pay. Bimbo ended the game with five to his name and Phoenix picked up two for himself. Gav played well in midfield too, providing three assists as the front men headed Boston home to a convincing victory!
