BUFC clip the Wings!

BUFC 2-0 LoTW (Headhunter 46' and 62')

6th January, 2012 saw the home game at Boston United against their long time rivals, LoTW's. Always a close match between two strong sides, but today the newly revitalised BUFC showed their fans just what they are capable of with an emphatic 2-nil home victory!

Straight from the kick-off Boston showed their intentions and immediately went on the attack. Their midfield seemed dominant and provided a series of through balls for Bimbo - usually reliable in his striker's role, but today couldn't beat the Wing's keeper, Gretha, who pulled off a string of three saves from the Boston striker.

BUFC's constant pressure had the Wings pegged back in their own half and finally it was Headhunter (JW to the fans!) who opened the scoring in first half injury time. The second half saw the Wing's attempt to stage a brief come-back, but their strikers couldn't break through the Boston defence, with good tackles from Ayo and AJ to stop their chances.

This frustration spread to the Wing's defence too, when their keeper Gretha, rushed out to bring down the charging BUFC striker Headhunter, on 62 mins. Mr Strict in charge booked her for the offence and JW calmly stepped up to slot home the spot-kick sealing Boston United's victory!

JW scores BUFC's second from the spot, with the Wing's players,
Lord Jam and Gregr looking on in disgust

A great win for Boston United and the fans went home happy with their team sitting in 4th place in the league, planning their away trip to face London in the next game. Despite his two goals to secure the win, it was recent signing, Sterkel in midfield who picked up the (wo)Man of the Match award for her control of the midfield and crisp passing. Well done to all the team - even Gunny the BUFC keeper, who didn't have to even touch the ball in this game!

C'mon Boston..!!!

Bimbo and his new Vice Captain

With all the recent developments at BUFC there was another shock announcement recently from the manager and club founder, Bimbo. The club's new Nigerian full back, Ayotoni has been appointed as Bimbo's right-hand man and takes on the role of the club's official vice-captain.

The club's previous vice-captain, AJ is seen here, looking rather reluctant to hand over the role to the newcomer and outsiders have speculated that he was stripped of his duties having failed to return on time from his trip to the WRC in New Zealand.

In reality this is not the case and the manager stated that this was a reward for the efforts Ayotoni made in bringing players to Boston United during the recent merger talks. Bimbo stated "Ayo is an enthusiastic, young player and should take a lot of credit for bringing new life to Boston United. We look forward to a new era at BUFC and are looking to finish in the top three this season".

Currently, Boston are on a six-game winning streak, that sees them just one point behind TableToppers in 4th place. Their recent run of victories recently saw them defeat LoTW's 2-0 at home, followed by a 1-0 away win at London UFC. The loyal BUFC fans are really pleased to see the success of the club and are hoping this run can continue until the end of the season! C'mon Boston..!!!

Another recent addition at BUFC

The club photographer has managed to catch up with another one of our recent signings and we are pleased to welcome Shinan to the club! Our Boston United 'old guard' boys - NumbNutz and Mickey are outnumbered now in midfield by the recent arrival of our MF females!!!

Boston United announce new signings

Dramatic developments in the close season saw Boston United make radical changes to its squad. Following the departure of our Indian international, NNN who took early retirement from the game, the management of BUFC went into negotiations with Sheffield Wednesday and finally came to agreement on a major amalgamation between the two clubs.

Consequently Boston United are pleased to be able to welcome a number of new signings. The club photographer manage to get four of them together for this shot immediately after the official transfer paper-work was completed.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome them and hope that these new signings help fulfil Boston United's ambitions of challenging in the top four once again this season!

C'mon Boston! We are United..!!!
