BUFC finish in 3rd place again!

As Season 28 draws to a close the mighty Boston United FC manage to capture the Bronze medal position again by securing third place in the SoccerStars Premier League... The final league placings are show below...

Final standings for Season 28 see BUFC comfortable in 3rd spot!

Our strengthen squad helped us to create a comfortable 6 point cushion ahead of Tank in 4th place, but defeat to the Mean Machine on the final day of the season meant that we still ended up a whole 9 points behind them. The introduction of goal difference to the league tables this season saw us finish with a fantastic GD of +96 - frustratingly just 4 goals short of the century! (maybe next season chaps!?)

Obviously the excitement got the better of some of new signings when our third place finish was confirmed in the penultimate game of the season at Ipswich - where we won convincingly 6-nil! So much so, that our flamboyant midfielder, Lightning Lee decided to take advantage of the ref's poor eyesight and he decided to show him a clean pair of heels with his rather over-enthusiastic match celebration! (see picture below)

Lee gets a bit carried away and the Blind ref ends up nearly swallowing his whistle!

And so the season ends - and the mighty Boston march on..!!! Can we improve on this finish next season? We are all hoping that we can snatch that second place - and that Lee manages to keep his kit on next season - at least til he gets back to the changing rooms!

C'mon Boston... We are United..!!!

BUFC strengthen their squad again!

The club is pleased to announce a trio of recent signings to the mighty Boston Utd FC... we would like to welcome midfielder Lightning Lee (seen in the middle below) and two new defenders in the shape of  Bramble (left) and Gomarchant (on the right)

Three new recruits pledge their allegiance to the BUFC flag (scarf!)

These new recruits will help the team challenge the top of the table sides again and the management are hoping for third, or given a good run, possibly even second place this season! It does mean that starting XI places are competitive and some squad rotation will have to take place again, but hopefully we can learn to get along despite the more crowded changing room conditions! (It would help if Undo washed his socks more often!?!)

C'mon Boston!!! We are United!

A close finish to Season 20

So the season draws to a close and by the skin of our teeth Boston United end in (joint) third place, just ahead of Fog Squad (on goal difference perhaps?)

A tight 3rd place finish for BUFC..!!!

So it was another good season for Boston and the team performed well! Some of the highlight figures from the statistics, starting with the goal-scorers this season... Mickey excelled himself this season, scoring 4 from midfield! Zj and Whitters also got one each too. Meanwhile it was a season long race for the top spot between the Boston front-men and it a close run thing with just one goal separating our intrepid strikers.

Eventually it ended with JW picking up the top scorer record for the season, managing to net 66 goals against Bimbo's 65..!!! Despite this impressive battle and a grand total of 133 goals between them, the goal of Boston United's season came from an unlikely source..!!! Congratulations to our stalwart defender, Undo who scored a fantastic solo effort, running the length of the pitch before firing home in our 5-0 win against Pro Club XI!

Apt that a defender should score the goal of the season, since once again it was the defence and our pin-up goal-keeper, Gunny that provided such an impressive defensive record again for the season! Their combined efforts and hard work resulted in a total of 24 clean sheets this season!

This defensive record meant that we had a massively positive goal difference of +113, having scored a grand total of 138 goals in 34 games and conceding only 25. An average of 4 goals per game.

Man of the match records for the season - Shinan received one; Mickey and Whitters gained two each; Zj picked up four and JW received five; but it was our intrepid striker and club captain, Bimbo who walked away with this, picking up a grand total of 12 MoM awards!

All-in-all another good season! The new season will provide another new challenge, as the league sees the return of the 'son of BH' in the form of Mean Machine - who will make it very difficult for us to achieve a top three finish in season 21..!!! Negotiations in the close season also saw the return of Bob to our defence - welcome back to the club to him! Hopefully his addition will help our defence against the top teams!

C'mon Boston!!! Onwards and upwards..!!!
